Instructions for using the Celox Rapid Z Fold Gauze
Follow these crucial steps to ensure effective usage of the Celox Rapid Z Fold Gauze:
Applying the Gauze
1. Begin by tearing open the pack. Extract the Celox™ Z-Fold Gauze and grip one end firmly with your other hand.
2. Pack the unfolding Celox™ Z-Fold Gauze tightly and directly onto the source of the bleeding. Use the remaining gauze to fill up any additional wound cavity. If required, any excess Celox™ Z-Fold Gauze can be torn or cut away.
3. Apply firm pressure directly onto the wound for a duration of 3 minutes. Should bleeding persist beyond this period, maintain direct pressure for an additional 3 minutes.
4. Proceed to wrap and tie the wound with a bandage to maintain consistent pressure.

The operational mechanism of Celox Gauze Z-Fold is both fascinating and effective. The Celox granules present on the gauze are high surface area flakes carrying a positive charge. Once these granules encounter blood, they immediately form a bond with the negatively charged red blood cells.
As the Celox™ gets wet, it begins to swell and transform into a gel. This gelling process, coupled with its adhesion to blood cells, forms a gel-like clot that effectively halts blood flow. Importantly, Celox™ does not interfere with the normal clotting cascade; it only induces clotting in the blood it comes directly in contact with.
Thanks to its physical mode of action, the Celox Gauze Z-Fold is capable of working effectively on hypothermic blood as well as blood containing heparin.
Safety Measures
This device is not designed for surgical purposes. Consumption is not advised. In case of accidental ingestion, it is recommended to drink water to alleviate any unease. Application over eyes should be avoided; if irritation arises, flush with water continuously for five minutes.
Repeated use may lead to cross-contamination and diminished effectiveness. The device contains chitosan, derived from shellfish; however, allergy tests indicate no negative reactions. This product is sterile and should not be re-sterilized, as this could compromise sterility and introduce a risk of infection. The device is intended for a one-time use only.
