Essential Chest Seal for Emergency Medical Professionals

The Celox Foxseal Chest Seal is designed for trained first responders, paramedics, emergency medical services (EMS) teams, and healthcare professionals who may encounter open chest wounds. Its compact size and rugged packaging make it a practical addition to first aid kits, individual first aid kits (IFAKs), and emergency response bags.

Ideal for managing injuries such as entry and exit wounds, it is particularly suited for those working in environments with challenging conditions, as its strong adhesive ensures reliable use across extreme temperatures. The no-valve design and re-sealing adhesive make it an excellent choice for straightforward application and patient monitoring.

This product is sterile, latex-free, and CE marked, ensuring compliance with medical standards. Suitable for treating injuries up to 15 cm in length, the Foxseal Chest Seal is a dependable tool for use in high-stakes medical situations.

How to use the Celox Foxseal Chest Seal

  1. Prepare the Wound Area: Clean the skin around the wound to remove any dirt or fluid.
  2. Apply the Seal: Remove one Foxseal from the clear liner by gripping the tab and peeling it away to expose the adhesive side.
  3. Position the Seal: Place the dressing adhesive side down, centred on the wound. Ideally, this should be done while the patient exhales to minimise air pressure in the pleural cavity.
  4. Secure the Seal: Firmly press the dressing to ensure a tight seal around the wound.
  5. Address Additional Wounds: If there is a second wound, repeat the process with the second seal.
  6. Venting: Use the peel tab to vent and re-seal the dressing if required.

Warnings

  • Intended for use by trained emergency responders only.
  • Monitor the patient for signs of tension pneumothorax. If symptoms develop, follow your training to vent the dressing by lifting an edge or performing needle decompression (do not insert a decompression needle through the dressing).
  • This dressing is not designed to improvise a three-sided seal or flutter valve. It does not include a built-in valve.
