How to Use the Emerald Aneroid Sphymomanometer

1. Prepare the Patient:

Ensure the person is seated comfortably with their arm supported at heart level. Locate the brachial artery by lightly pressing two fingers inside the bend of the elbow.

2. Position the Cuff:

Wrap the provided adult black nylon calibrated cuff around the upper arm, ensuring it is snug but not too tight. The gauge can be clipped onto the cuff using the spring-loaded catch, freeing up one hand.

3: Inflate the Cuff:

Place the stethoscope over the brachial artery, just below the cuff. Squeeze the bellows to inflate the cuff, restricting blood flow. Continue inflating until the gauge shows a pressure slightly above the expected systolic reading.

4. Deflate Slowly and Read the Measurement:

Gradually release the air by opening the valve. Listen through the stethoscope for the first pulse sound—this is the systolic pressure. As the sound fades, note the reading where it disappears—this is the diastolic pressure.

5. Record and Interpret the Reading:

Note both values for reference. If you are unsure how to interpret the results, consult a healthcare professional.

6. Storage and Maintenance:

After use, deflate the cuff fully and store the device in the provided zip-up pouch to keep it protected and portable.
