How to Use the Blizzard Blanket
Opening the Packet:
- Locate the Tear-Open Slit: Find the red pre-cut slit at the base of the packet.
- Tear Open: Gently tear the packet open at the slit to access the blanket.
Unwrapping the Blanket:
- Unroll the Blanket: Carefully unroll the Blizzard EMS Blanket to its full length.
- Extend the Material: Stretch the blanket sideways, ensuring the cells within the material are fully extended throughout its length.
- Allow Time for Inflation: After initial unrolling, the blanket may appear flat. Give it a few minutes for the cells to gradually fill with air.
Using the Blanket on a Casualty:
- Wrap the Casualty: Gently wrap the blanket around the casualty, ensuring full coverage.
- Secure the Blanket: Use the self-adhesive strip to seal the blanket around the casualty. This ensures warmth and protection are maintained.
- Re-Open for Access: The blanket can be easily re-opened to allow access to the casualty for medical examination or intervention.
- Ensure Effective Insulation: For optimal effectiveness, the Reflexcell™ material should not be squashed. Gently tug the material lengthwise until it takes on a corrugated appearance, ensuring all cells are inflated.
- Monitor and Adjust: If the cells flatten during use, re-inflate them by tugging again. Avoid stretching the blanket too tightly, as this can flatten the cells and reduce insulation efficiency.
