The SAM® Splint, is a globally recognised innovation in emergency care and support. Trusted by professionals across various industries — from the dedicated teams in emergency services to the rugged outdoor adventurers and esteemed organisations such as the US military and NASA—the SAM® Splint stands out for its revolutionary design.
It's engineered to combine the science of the C-Curve Principle with the ease of a lightweight, adaptable structure. The splint's unique composition of foam and aluminium allows it to be moulded into any simple curve, providing robust support that rivals the stability of traditional splints without their bulk and rigidity. Designed for repeated use, it can be straightened and reshaped multiple times, ensuring it's ready for any situation. Whether it's for pre-cast or post-cast care, the SAM® Splint's adaptable nature means it's cut-to-size ready, making it a staple for any medical kit. Lightweight and compact, it's the gold standard in splinting—offering security and stability when it's needed the most.
The 36" SAM® Splint is a premier solution for stabilising a wide array of injuries, including those to larger limbs. Measuring 91.4cm x 10.8cm, it is specially designed to offer robust support for both upper and lower extremities. This splint's larger size is perfect for accommodating the broader and longer areas of the body, such as the arms, legs, or torso, and is particularly effective for more complex fractures or sprains that require substantial support. Its flexible construction can be shaped to match the specific contour of the affected limb, ensuring a customised fit that immobilises the injury, thereby aiding in the healing process.

Without any bends, the SAM® Splint is completely malleable, to be shaped however the user desires. When you make a curve or fold anywhere across its longitudinal axis, it becomes rigid and suitable for splinting. With the following 3 bends; C-Curve, Reverse C-Curve and T-Curve, the strength and rigidity allow any bone to splinted appropriately.
This curve immediately adds strength and rigidity to the splint. It can be done by placing your thumbs in the centre as a place and pulling in the edges to create a shallow C.
Created by firstly making the C-Curve, then bending back both edges in a reverse direction to add additional strength.
Fold the splint in half lengthways then bend half of each side back in the opposite direction to create a 'T' shaped beam. Bending the splint this way adds exceptional strength to the splint.
The SAM® Splint 36" Roll and the SAM® Splint 36" Standard Flatfold are two forms of the same versatile splinting material designed to stabilise and immobilise injuries, the flatfold being slightly wider than the roll Here are the differences:
SAM® Splint 36" Roll: As the name suggests, this splint comes in a rolled format. This makes it more compact and can be easier to store in cylindrical or narrow spaces like emergency bags, backpacks, or within cylindrical compartments in medical kits.
SAM® Splint 36" Standard Flatfold: This version is folded flat. It may be more convenient for storage in places where a flat or slim profile is preferred, like shelves, drawers, or flat emergency kits.
SAM® Splint 36" Roll: The rolled splint may require unrolling before it can be used, which might add a few seconds to the application process.
SAM® Splint 36" Standard Flatfold: The flatfold is ready to be used without the need to unroll it, potentially offering quicker access and deployment.
SAM® Splint 36" Roll: The rolled form may be more suitable for situations where space is a premium, and the ability to stash it in between other items is beneficial.
SAM® Splint 36" Standard Flatfold: The flatfold might be easier to quickly grab and apply since it lies flat and can be more easily slid out from a stack of medical supplies.
