Secure and Comfortable IV Site Protection with Leukomed IV Film

Leukomed IV Film provides a comprehensive solution for securing IV catheters and cannulae. This product is a sterile, transparent dressing designed specifically for intravenous sites. It ensures that catheters and cannulae are securely fixed while offering protection against infections. What sets Leukomed IV Film apart is its unique combination of features: it is water and bacteria-proof, making it ideal for patients to wear during showers or baths without compromising the dressing.

The dressing's pattern-coated adhesive and soft, flexible film are designed for maximum patient comfort. Its breathability and skin-friendly adhesive also reduce the risk of skin maceration and tension blisters, making it suitable for sensitive skin. The product's transparency allows for easy inspection of the IV site, ensuring that any issues can be quickly identified and addressed. These qualities make Leukomed IV Film an indispensable tool in modern medical care, providing a balance of safety, comfort, and effectiveness.

We supply medical-grade injection and infusion equipment to hospitals, emergency services, medical and healthcare facilities, and the military.

9 Benefits of Leukomed IV Film

Breathable: The dressing's high breathability factor is essential for maintaining healthy skin. It allows air to circulate over the skin, reducing the likelihood of skin maceration—a condition where the skin becomes overly soft and breaks down due to constant moisture exposure.
Long-Lasting: The robust adhesive used in Leukomed IV Film ensures that the dressing remains securely in place for up to 7 days. This extended wear time reduces the need for frequent dressing changes, making it more convenient for patients and caregivers.
Friction Protection: Designed to minimise friction, the dressing helps protect the sensitive puncture site from additional stress or irritation. This reduces the risk of discomfort and potential complications at the IV site.
Contamination Reduction: The dressing acts as a barrier against contaminants, significantly lowering the risk of infection at the puncture site. This is vital for maintaining a sterile environment, especially in hospital or clinical settings.
Transparent Design: The clear design of the dressing allows for continuous monitoring of the IV site. This transparency is key for the early detection of any potential issues, such as swelling, redness, or infection, without removing the dressing.
Skin-Friendly Adhesive: Its hypoallergenic adhesive is specifically formulated for sensitive skin. It minimises the risk of allergic reactions and tension blisters, ensuring comfort and safety for patients with sensitive or fragile skin.
Water-Repellent: The dressing's water-repellent nature is highly practical allowing patients to wash andshower without the need for immediate dressing replacement. This feature aids in maintaining hygiene while reducing the frequency of dressing changes.
Choice in Sizes: Leukomed IV Film is available in two sizes, 6cm x 8cm and 7cm x 9cm, accommodating different site requirements and ensuring a suitable fit for various patient needs.
Fixation Strips: Fixation strips aid in securing the dressing and catheter in place, while patient labels provide essential information for effective patient management and care.

How to use Leukomed IV Film

  1. Peel away the upper part of the release paper, holding the film dressing at the red strip.
  2. Position the dressing over the insertion site and adhere the film to the skin.
  3. Remove the two remaining release papers and stick the handles over the catheter's wings.
  4. Lift off the transparent carrier carefully at the red tab.
  5. To remove the dressing, evenly pull off the film using one of the edges.

Patients should seek medical advice if they notice signs of infection, irritation, or allergic reactions at the IV site, or if the dressing becomes loose or compromised.

Which Size Dressing Should You Choose?

The Leukomed IV Film Sterile Transparent U-Cut Cannula Dressings come in two sizes. Choosing between these sizes depends on the patient's size (adult or pediatric), the size of the cannula or catheter, and the specific requirements of the insertion site. It's crucial to select a dressing that adequately covers the site without being excessively large, to ensure comfort and effective protection.

Leukomend IV Film 6cm x 8cm box

6cm x 8cm

The smaller 6cm x 8cm dressing is more suitable for pediatric patients or for securing smaller cannulas and catheters. It's ideal for use in areas with limited space or where a smaller insertion site is involved. This size is less obtrusive and more comfortable for patients with smaller limbs or less surface area to work with.

Leukomed IV Film 7cm x 9cm Box

7cm x 9cm

The larger 7cm x 9cm dressing is typically used for securing larger cannulas or catheters, often in adult patients or in situations where a larger area needs to be covered for added stability or to accommodate larger insertion sites. Its size provides greater coverage, ensuring better protection against infection and movement of the device.
