How to use FFP3 Valved Face Masks Effectively

  1. Wash Hands: Begin with clean hands. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  2. Inspect the Mask: Check the mask for any damage or dirt before use.
  3. Preparation: Hold the mask in your hand with the nosepiece at your fingertips, allowing the headbands to hang freely below your hand.
  4. Position the Mask: Press the mask against your face with the nosepiece on the bridge of your nose.
  5. Secure the Mask: Pull the top strap over your head and position it high on the back of your head. Pull the bottom strap over your head and position it below your ears.
  6. Adjust the Fit: With both hands, mould the nosepiece to the shape of your nose by pushing inward while moving your fingertips down both sides of the nosepiece.
  7. Seal Check: Perform a fit check by placing both hands completely over the mask. Exhale sharply. If air leaks around the nose, readjust the nosepiece. If air leaks at the mask edges, adjust the straps back along the sides of your head.
  8. Wearing: Once fitted correctly, the mask should remain in place without the need for constant adjustment.
  9. Removal: Avoid touching the front of the mask, which may be contaminated. Remove by handling the straps only. Once removed, dispose of the mask safely and wash your hands again.
