Manchester United Strengthens Stadium Safety with New Defibrillator Installation
Manchester United has taken a significant step to improve public safety by installing a new defibrillator at Old Trafford's supporter services building. This initiative directly addresses the ‘care gap’—the critical time between an emergency occurring and the arrival of first responders.
24/7 Access to Lifesaving Equipment
The newly installed Community Public Access Defibrillator (CPAD) is accessible 24/7, offering continuous protection for fans, visitors, and the local community should someone suffer a cardiac arrest. Strategically positioned in a high-traffic area, the defibrillator aims to increase survival rates for anyone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
The Importance of Rapid Defibrillation
Rapid defibrillation is crucial in emergencies. According to the British Heart Foundation, for every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation, a person's chances of survival decrease up to 10%. After 10 minutes without defibrillation, survival rates drop to less than 5%.

Trusted Providers of Lifesaving Equipment
We at Steroplast Healthcare, in collaboration with the manufacturer, supplied the state-of-the-art iPAD SPR AED defibrillator and DefibSafe 3 cabinet. We recommended a defibrillator that provides clear voice prompts to guide anyone needing it, even without first aid training.
The installation comes as part of Manchester United's wider commitment to fortify its safety measures. Previously, the stadium installed Public Access Trauma Kits (PAcT kits), which are designed to address life-threatening injuries in an emergency with military-grade wound dressings, tourniquets, and other critical injury equipment.

The defibrillator has been registered on "The Circuit," the national defibrillator network, allowing 999 call handlers to direct individuals to its location during emergencies quickly. Strategically placed defibrillators and PAcT kits throughout the stadium indicate a responsible approach to closing the care gap and prioritising visitor safety in the event of an emergency, giving everyone a chance to receive medical care before paramedics arrive.
"Manchester United's proactive approach to bridging the care gap demonstrates their commitment to public safety. We're proud to support their initiatives by facilitating the provision of this crucial equipment."
