Alcohol and PHMB free

The benefits of alcohol and PHMB free wipes

PDI Sani-Cloth® AF Wipes are just as effective against germs and bacteria without harsh chemicals like alcohol and PHMB. Here are the benefits of using these alcohol and PHMB free Sani-Cloth disinfectant wipes over alcohol wipes:

Alcohol wipes are not safe to use around children

Alcohol wipes contain between 60 and 90% isopropyl alcohol or ethyl. This means that if your child puts the wipes in their mouth, or put their fingers in their mouth after using the wipes, they could become intoxicated. It is not safe for alcohol wipes to be used on children or on anything around them.

Alcohol wipes are extremely flammable

The high alcohol content of most sanitising wipes makes them extremely flammable. When a product containing alcohol is used near a flame, it is likely to lead to serious injury or damage. Furthermore, it is not safe to store it in your car or take it on any trips because it needs to be kept away from light sources and heaters. You should never use them to clean your hands before cooking as they can catch on fire.

Alcohol wipes can dry out the skin

Alcohol contains ingredients that can dry out the skin because alcohol not only evaporates off the skin itself but also takes important oils and moisture with it. The PDI Sani-Cloth® AF Wipes actually contain a skin-friendly surfactant and are suitable for use by people with sensitive skin as they have been dermatologically tested.

PHMB is harmful to the body

Even though PHMB has proven antibacterial properties, it has also been shown to be harmful. PHMB is carcinogenic (causing cancer), mutagenic (causing gene mutation), and toxic. It is also suspected to affect the reproductive system. You can rest assured knowing that our PDI Sani-Cloth® AF Wipes do not contain this harmful substance.

Widely used in the NHS

Certified as a Class IIA medical device, PDI Sani-Cloth® AF Wipes are used throughout healthcare settings such as NHS hospitals, care homes, dentists, and vets. They are a cost-effective way of keeping patients and staff safe.

The Sani-Cloth® AF Wipes are ideal for healthcare environments, as they can be used to clean non-porous hard surfaces and pre-clean or decontaminate non-invasive medical devices. The NHS trust and use this product due to its highly effective formula which resists bacteria and fights against a wide range of infections and viruses.

How Sani-Cloth® AF Wipes work and how to use them

Dirt creates a barrier between a surface and the disinfectant on the wipe and therefore prevents the surface from being disinfected. PDI Sani-Cloth® AF Wipes are designed to remove both dirt and disinfect at the same time meaning detergent wipes no longer need to be bought as two separate products. Choosing these wipes eliminates the risk of preparation errors, as they are ready for immediate use with the perfect amount and concentration of the product.

They contain a skin-friendly surfactant and disinfectant that enables the sanitising wipes to clean and disinfect in one action. They have an alcohol-free formulation with a specialist additive which prevents damage on equipment and surfaces, making them the ideal solution for disinfecting mattresses, rubber, plastic, and metal. They are also suitable for use around those with respiratory sensitivities and sensitive skin as they have been dermatologically tested.

Sani-Cloth® AF is premixed, premeasured, and convenient to use. This provides the assurance that it delivers the right concentration to disinfect. It avoids mixing errors and activation waiting times for products mixed at the point of use. Validated low drying times ensure devices are available for use within a shorter time period without compromising disinfection.

How to use Sani-Cloth® AF Wipes

1. Before you start always wear the correct PPE

Check with your internal protocols to ensure that the correct PPE is used for the area and equipment you are about to clean and/or disinfect.

2. Refer to label instructions and 'Use by' date

Check the expiry date.

3. Follow the instructions below for opening the canisters, flow wrap and bucket

4. Remove only one wipe at a time. Open out the wipe

5. Remove any visible soiling with the first wipe, then use an additional wipe to disinfect

6. Wipe efficiently. For one application use one wipe

Wipe direction should be dirty to clean, top to bottom. Take care not to go over the same area twice to prevent any cross-contamination.

 7. Contact and drying time

  a. One wipe covers an approximate surface area of one-metre square.

  b. Do not overuse the wipe, if it becomes dry or soiled discard and use another wipe to complete the area.

  c. Allow the disinfected area to air dry.

  d. Dispose of used wipes in the clinical waste bin.

  e. After use, ensure the packaging lid is closed. Once empty, dispose of the packaging in the recycling bin, or according to local protocol.
