It may be suitable for people who want a convenient oral capsule to help reduce the frequency of loose bowel movements. It can be used at home or while travelling, but it is intended for symptom relief only and does not replace rehydration. It is important to drink plenty of fluids to replace the water and salts lost during diarrhoea.

This product is not suitable for children under 12 years of age, and it should not be used for IBS-related diarrhoea in anyone under 18 years old. If symptoms last longer than 48 hours, change, worsen, or keep returning, medical advice should be sought.

How to Use Imodium Original Capsules

For oral use only. Swallow the capsules whole with water.

For short-term diarrhoea

• Adults and children aged 12 years and over should take 2 capsules to start, then 1 capsule after each further loose bowel movement if needed.
• Do not take more than 6 capsules in 24 hours.
• Do not use for an attack lasting more than 48 hours without medical advice.

For IBS-related diarrhoea already diagnosed by a doctor

• Adults aged 18 years and over should take 2 capsules to start, then 1 capsule after each further loose bowel movement if needed, or as previously advised by a doctor.
• Do not take more than 6 capsules in 24 hours.
• This medicine can be used for repeated attacks for up to 2 weeks, but do not use it for any one attack lasting more than 48 hours without speaking to a doctor.
