Ben Sheedy Training For His Upcoming Fight

Ben Sheedy is a boxer with the world at his feet. An undefeated Middleweight with power that would stop anyone in their tracks, his KOs have proven that. Ben is from Sale and heard about Steroplast Healthcare and the popularity of our Sterotape-Z.O. boxing tape through our social media channels. He is a fighter who definitely knows what he's doing and has a long and successful career in the sport mapped out for himself. Refusing to hit anything (pad or opponent) without firstly having his hands taped and protected properly. Once he tried out the Sterotape-Z.O. he won't use anything else. It gives him the confidence to unleash his full power in his punches without fear of injury.

When dropping off a delivery to Champs Camp boxing club in Moss Side, we met up with Ben and his trainer Ensley Bingham. Ensley is a former professional boxer himself from Manchester. In his day he held both the British and Inter-Continental light middleweight championships. Ensley was a force to be reckoned with and had unbelievable power. Anthony Ivory was knocked out by Ensley and said "I've never been hit so hard in my life!"

Champs Camp

Champs Camp is Manchester's most famous and successful boxing club, it's part of the Phil Martin Centre in Moss Side. Former light-heavyweight professional boxer Phil Martin started the club himself in 1981 after the Manchester riots to help young people in his community. With no financial help, he used derelict rooms above a local Co-op to create a successful amateur boxing club for all the local people. In time, with a sports grant and help from the tradesmen using the gym he created something bigger and better! Phil managed to create the most successful amateur and professional boxing camp in the UK, with four professional British Boxing Champions; Maurice Core, Carl Thompson, Frank Grant and Paul Burke.

Sadly, in 1994 Phil passed away, but his fighters would not let his legacy die. His wife Aubrey and some of his young fighters kept the gym alive. With help from fighters and MCCR it relaunched as the Phil Martin Centre. The club is now run by Ensley, who re-launched it as Champs Camp, a professional boxing brand, working with Maurice Core, they run the gym and train todays up and coming fighters.

So it was fantastic to visit the famous club and we also got the opportunity to see Ben in action. It was great to see how important protecting his hands are to Ben and his team. Then, to see him let fly on the pads was amazing!
