Titans Preseason

Titans preseason comes to an impressive end

Manchester Titans vs Staffordshire Surge at the Belle Vue Stadium.

As official sponsors of the Manchester Titans we get a privileged inside look at the team. We were offered the opportunity to attend one of the Titans preseason warm up games at the weekend, so of course we went along. The game was on Sunday, which turned out to be the perfect day for a spectator with the glorious sunshine. The sun was beating down on the Belle Vue Stadium, the Titans new home ground. We can definitely confirm how hot it was as we all look like lobsters in the office today! Their new stadium boasts a state of the art 4G pitch which the Titans play on, if you've never been down it's definitely worth a trip.

Titans Preseason Game Day

The visiting opponents for Sunday's friendly game were another local team, the Staffordshire Surge. It was a chance for us to see firsthand how our products are used by the Titans and the circumstances they need them. If you're a fan of high contact sport, and have never seen an American Football game before, this could be for you! It did not take long at all before a player was heading to the first aid area and using our products.

One of the players was jogging towards us, holding his hand saying he'd damaged it in the pre-game warm up. When we looked at it, his finger was pointing the wrong way, he'd completely dislocated his little finger. However, within minutes a physio had popped it back in place and strapped it up using Sterotape Premium. Showing his competitive spirit, and love for the game, the player was overjoyed with the chance to keep playing. This is the one thing that stands out when you watch the Titans and speak to their players. They are less of a team and more of a family, they all protect each other on the field and their camaraderie and banter is second to none.

The Result

The game itself was a preseason friendly, so it's not considered etiquette to keep score. However, as spectators we don't have to abide by this, so we can say it.........The Titans WON! It was a great performance from everyone, which is a great result to take into the start of the full season. There were touchdowns from Ian Harrison, Joe Nicholson, Dave 'Scrappy' Blake and George Slade. New player Luke Horrobin, who previously played for the Derby Brave, also scored his first ever touchdown.

Defensively the Titans had 3 turnovers. Interceptions came from James Allen at the goal line. Dave Barnett managed to run for a touchdown but was unfortunately it was called back for a penalty. The third was James Dean's quick recovery to a fumble.

Stand out player performance went to Jonny Stewart, another new Titan signed from the Birmingham Lions. Jonny had an excellent game at cornerback and is an exciting prospect for the coming season.

What A Day

We also took along a selection of our newest sport products and let the guys try them out. It allowed us to get a few photographs for our new website of the products in use. All the players were willing to help out and join in, which was amazing. There was a real fun spirit within the team, this is why the team is going from strength to strength.

We are so happy to be involved with such a great collective of individuals. Titans preseason is now over, so we'll be in the stands at their future home games, and if you get an opportunity to go along, you definitely should. The sport is so up and coming in the UK and you couldn't do better than becoming a fan of the Titans.

GO TITANS!
